Mercian Reynolds 531 steel touring audax road bike Campagnolo MAVIC classic

  
My late uncle's Mercian. He lived near the factory in Derby and had this bike made for him circa 1992 I've been in contact with Mercian and await confirmation of the date it was built etc. He also had the frame refinished (stove enamelled) around 2012 (new bottom bracket and headset fitted at the same time). I'm almost certain it's a King of Mercia model and it has cut-out lugs, Reynolds 531 and the Mercian embossed seat post and stem (which is ITM like the handlebars). It's the real deal for touring or audax, or just a great classy steel bike for more relaxed use, commuting, days out etc. It's 56cm centre to centre, both seat tube and top tube - so a medium. Suitable for around 5'8" to 6'1" riders. He loved Campag so had it fitted with all Campagnolo (except the brakes, he came from the era of cyclists who believed that Campag brakes weren't so good).

Mirage for the shifters and derailleurs (it's a touring bike after all) but Record for the headset and BB. Not sure which series the crankset is, but he specified a 52/42/30 triple up front and it has a 9 speed cassette and shifters (as per the era that the bike was built).

Mavic rims built by Mercian (with original stickers) on Campag hubs. My uncle was an engineer and a perfectionist - he maintained his bike accordingly although he also gave it lots of use. He cycled many miles including doing the End To End three times on this bike. It's built for long days out in the saddle and he used to take all his camping kit too.

I think it had a front rack at some point too, currently fitted with a high quality rear rack and also a large bag with a map window between the'bars (see photos) and high quality mudguards. The tyres are good quality touring type and are little used. This bike is in great condition cosmetically and operationally - I took it for a quick test today and it's great despite little use for the last year.

Just a few minor blemishes in the stove enamel yellow finish. The only thing I don't like is the saddle but that's a personal thing and easily changed. Bank transfer or cash on collection, please no Ppal.
