New Rapid St Georges Engineering Penny Farthing by RoE. This bike is a reproduction of the New Rapid from 1886 with all original features and specification along with a few modifications to some of the weak areas of the original design.

72 spoke tangent driving wheel fully wire tied and soldered just like in 1886. Pressed sheet metal hub flanges as per original measurements massive weight savings by changing the grain flow of the steel. Adjustable bearings machined to the original specification. These allow the use of light weight 18gauge fork blades by allowing the ability to reduce the play in the bearings.

Hand rolled and folded fork blades to original dimensions. Rear forks are a light weight pressed sheet metal design as per the original dimensions. These flick back as per original design it is not a mistake! Handle bars are fully detachable and are of hollow design tapered and wall thickness 14gauge down to 22gauge. Ovalised and tapered backbone this shows the quality of the original bike the oval backbone makes a large difference in strength allowing use of a reduced tube wall thickness.

Hollow steel rims These are hand rolled to any size, the hollow section is both lighter and stronger than a solid c section. RoE replica international distance saddle with adjustment on both the leather hide and height. Front Spoon brake nickel plated in house to give a warm patina Each bikes brake is tested and setup to reduce speed without too much bite. Trouser guard actually quite handy surprisingly doesnt take long to wear marks in your trousers. Slotted adjustable crank arms as per how the original would have been.

This is probably one of the most refined machines of it's time with all best technology of the 1880's. It looses some of the over the top details in favour of making it the best riding penny farthing ever made. This model is highly regarded as the best riding machine and RoE have recreated it to the original spec. Wheel size, standard sizes are 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60.

Optional coach lining (Pinstriped Paint work). Paint Type - Traditional Brush applied coach enamel, Powder Coating or Full Nickel Plating.
