Well after 30 years of ownership I've decided to sell my first and only freestyle bike! This bike is indeed unique in the fact that although there was a run of originally 300 Voris Dixon produced Free Agent Free Flites frame and forks this was indeed a pre production version that was built with a one inch longer top tube behind the seat post. Underneath the chrome you can infact see where the top tube must have originally been shortened (slight blade marking)to allow a brake bridge to be installed before it was finally chromed by VDC and then despatched to Alpine Action of Notting Hill London. It indeed came home with the bike of the year in 2008! There is no serial number on the frame adding more to the truth of it being pre production.
It has the same rear end and campagnolo rear dropouts that was used and ridden by Woody Itson on his VDC Changa that he used just prior to the Free Agent being put into production. This frame comes with its original forks which are of course the ones used in the earliest builds. The frame has always run a 43/16 front and rear sprocket set so there are absolutely no marks in the rear dropouts and as can be seen from the picture Campagnolo is still clearly visible on both sides of both rear dropouts! This is not only a rarity but also un repaired and unmarked! The Frameset stickers are original NOS.
Right now let's list the parts that come with this bike. The handlebars are believed to be one from the first run of 100 VDC made Woody Itson Signature bars. These also have had no damage or have not been cutdown although have been repainted and fitted with NOS Oakley B-1B's. The stem is a polished Hutch, seat post is the original seat post that I got with the bike believed to be VDC/Free Agent but no markings. The seat is a Black Suede Kashimax Aero , Seat post clamp is NOS Hutch. The brakes are NOS Dia Compe MX1000 with 85 marked cables and ACS Potts2 levers. Brake pads are White Skyway Pros. The crank set is Redline 401 fitted with an original bubble font 43 chain wheel with a Tioga sealed bottom Bracket and Tioga Beartrap 2 Headset. Pedals are NOS Hutch with white painted cages. The wheel set is NOS ACS Mike Buff Z rims dated October 84 with matching white ACS small flange front hub and bendix coaster with stainless spokes and NOS Tioga Comp Pool tyres and Tioga Superlite inner tubes.
This bike also comes with a number of NOS period accessories which include a set of ODI Grip Guards, Sharp Lever Sleeves, Mike Buff Buff Guard, Hutch headset and bottom bracket locks. A set of Steve Veltman Rad Kaps Hutch cage protectors and lastly some Oakley grip butts. Since being rebuilt circa 2005/6 this bike has never been ridden and as such is a real Carpet Queen. This bike lives in a smoke, pet and child free environment and as such is unmarked. As always collection can be arranged in the London Area. I know a lot of question may be asked, so please be patient with me getting back to you due to time zone differences.
